Ted has conducted workshops and talks in HDB, NTU, companies, meetup group as well as to the public.  In 2009, Ted stumbled upon digital marketing when researching about ways to grow his startup in the education and ecommerce space. He’s been hooked ever since. Ted also writes about digital marketing for publications including TechinAsia, Singapore Business Review and The New Savvy. In June 2016, his article on Search engine optimization was named one of top 10 articles in TechinAsia. Ted holds a first class honors in Business IT from NTU.

Ricky Tay

Ricky came from Panasonic where he was in charge of optimizing the website of the Japanese company. He has always wanted to be an entrepreneur. While still a student, he co-founded the first student-initated cafe in NTU, Pitchstop which is currently still in operation.  After his scholarship bond was over, he set up Ice Cube Marketing with Ted. He is glad to be doing what he enjoys now. An avid runner, Ricky loves to challenge himself by taking part in races and breaking his personal records.

I remember staying back late after one of my public workshops on digital marketing, chatting with the participants who hail from various interesting fields. One of them runs a frame-making business. It is a mature industry in Singapore where most other players are operating using mostly traditional methods. He attended the workshop to see how he can catch the trend and do things differently.

Here’s the interesting part. He asked why I was willing to share much of the gems of our trade. Equipped with the knowledge, he could basically carry out digital marketing on his own and not have to enlist our service.

“Haha, that’s my intention and my marketing philosophy.” The world has changed.  Gone are the days of the snake oil salesmen selling koyok( quack medicine)  for ten times its value. You can Google and find anything, even the cost prices of your products. Top US content marketer, Brian Clark said  “These days, people want to be educated instead of pitched.” As a consumer, my attitude is:, just give me all the information and I will make a decision. I do unto others what I want others to do unto me.

However, alot of information found on the internet is entrenched in the US context. Similar to the spirit of imparting knowledge in a workshop, this blog seeks to be an online avenue for sharing information to aid decision-making in the area of business growth using online channels.
